18 hours in Budapest

Ever get bored on a random Tuesday and buy a ticket the next day to a different county... welcome to Europe. This was one of the best parts of being abroad specifically in Europe because travel was so easy! We ended up picking Budapest because it was the cheapest place we could go on short notice. To add to that when I say cheap I mean cheap it was a $30 round trip airline ticket. Budapest was also one of the best places I have ever visited and I definitely need to go back.

With our short time frame and the cheap ticket, we had a total of 18 hours in Budapest this included us not getting into the country until 11 pm. However, we made the most of our time and game planned our walk/ run around the city. Our circular game plan worked great and we went to 5 different places throughout the city. One of my favorites was a beautiful cathedral, perched on a lookout over the city. Additionally, another unforgettable visit was to an old Jewish apartment building turned into a bar/hang-out area. This lost building includes belongings to people that used to live there but were tragically killed during the holocaust. A sign outside the building read "people used to live here" and it truly gives you the chills.
